  • Lathes play an important role in industry development, known as the mother of industry, and is the most important machinery in precision machining. Turning is a machining in which the workpiece is fixed on the main shaft of the machine tool, the main shaft and the workpiece rotate at a high speed, and then the workpiece is linearly cut with a fixed tool.
    Lathes are mainly used on turning cylindrical materials, doing cylindrical turning, internal turning, face turning, slope turning, curved surface, thread and knurling pattern. Grooving, drilling, boring, embossing, eccentric turning, surface turning, etc. belong to its additional functional machining.

    CNC lathes are used for the machining of auto parts. The precision of the lathe affects the quality of the machining.
  • What Machines Does WKPT Use for CNC Turning Machining?

    WKPT mainly owns horizontal lathes and vertical lathes. Since the rotary axis is at the bottom of the vertical lathes, the applied force works on the lathes, the base and the workpiece itself during turning top-down. Therefore, the vertical lathes have large load capacity and good rigidity, which are suitable for large-scale and long diameter with short length workpieces. The machining types are mostly for complex shafts and large disc parts. While the main shaft is on the left side of the horizontal lathe, and the workpiece is clamped horizontally on the rotary shaft. So the size of the workpiece is limited by the clamping size and weight, mostly for medium and small parts on horizontal lathes.

    What Materials Can Be Turning Machined by WKPT?

    In the early stage, WKPT started machining parts from cast iron, and gradually extended to the machining of carbon steel and stainless steel. With the progress of applied materials science, metal materials have diversified such as aluminum alloys, nickel-zinc alloy of lightweight materials.
    These special metal materials have different settings of parameters, tool selection, configuration, and correction in the processing process, which is also seen as a test of the stability of the lathes and the quality of CNC engineers for machinery operations. WKPT has invested in high value-added CNC lathes constantly. Besides the high-torque metal machining centers, we also added high-speed multi-axis turning centers to strengthen the machining capacity of high-precision aluminum alloy production lines.

  • Accuracy and Measurement of Turning

    For precision parts production through turning, WKPT checks parts quality by offline measurement. For higher precision requirements, we use turning and milling centers for machining. Online measurement can be performed and automatically correct the workpiece offset. Automatic tool correction can control refining tool life, reducing precision errors, and improving precision and efficiency.

We use the DMG MORI horizontal machining center in prototyping and production of high-precision workpieces.

1-2 Process Capability / Machining Accuracy
For machining aperture, the roundness could be controlled under 0.005mm, and the straightness could be controlled under 0.005mm.
The distance between each aperture could be controlled under 0.01mm (special request), or under 0.02mm (normal request).
